Title: Camaraderie in Ministry
In Paul's epistle to the Philippians, he wanted believers to know they were "contending as one man". This greek term conveys the idea of players on an athletic team, working side-by-side against an opposing force, that these believers needed to act as a team, they needed to plan together, pray together, and serve together.
Like many of you I am a football fan. Few things are more intimidating than a defensive or offensive line skilled, determined two hundred-seventy-pound players working together under expert coaching. May each local outpost see itself as a similarly equipped team, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and guided by their great coach Jesus Christ, heading to victory against the forces of darkness.
We need to give thanks for partners in ministry. Partnership in the Lord's work brings an intimate bond between commanders. When we pray together, plan together, give together and serve together, an unusually close bond is created. The names of so many people flood my mind from the years as serving as District Commander, people who remain dear to me because of our years of working together building the kingdom of God, one boy at a time. Whenever they come to mind I give thanks for them and remember with sweetness their contribution to this great ministry.
Remember to let others know how much you appreciate them and express confidence in what God is doing in their lives.
"He who began a work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus". Let us press on, circumstances are temporary, so keep praising the Lord for God is faithful, all the time.Labels: 2007, chaplain, joe_finan
