DLC Meeting (Aug. 26-27) Cancelled

The District Executive Staff has made a decision to not conduct a District Leaders Conference on August 26-27 as scheduled. We do not have an abundance of topics or issues that need to be discussed and it was determined that the information we had to disseminate can be done through a newsletter and via the District website, which will come out in the next few weeks. Therefore, district and sectional staff can have the weekend off! Use your time wisely. Please get the word out to those in your section so that they know the meeting has been cancelled and they need not attend. We will be attending and have invited district and sectional staff to attend the JBEI at the Regional Business meeting on November 11-12. At that time we can discuss briefly important items with those in attendance. If you have not signed up yet for the JBEI and/or let me know if you are or are not coming please do as soon as possible.

In lieu of the DLC meeting the District Executive Staff and Camp Council Board will be meeting at the CAMP on Friday evening, Aug. 26th at 6:00 PM. All executive staff members and Camp Council Board members are requested to attend. We will meet until approximately 11:00 PM or until done, whichever comes first. The meeting will cover such items as, but not necessarily limited to:

  • Master Plan and long range plans for the camp (3, 5, and 10 year plans)
  • Completion of existing projects
  • Shower house
  • New pavilion recently donated
  • Entryway
  • Pole building completion
  • Barn organization
  • Climbing wall
  • Activity center
  • Donor recognition
  • Calendar issues
  • District Navigator progress
  • 50th Powwow Anniversary Celebration (2018)
  • District Powwow debriefing

 On Saturday, several of us plan on staying over and doing some work at the camp. If you would like to join us and help out your presence and help would be greatly appreciated. There is never a shortage of things to do around the camp. At a minimum, we will be installing the well pump at the RV area and completing the painting on the lower pole barn. In addition, there is some lattice we have that needs put up around the platform of the waterslide. This will allow us to store some items under the platform. There are other things that need done as well and we will post a list on the Camp webpage as soon as we finalize plans. We will provide lunch for those attending; most likely ordering pizza unless Paul cares to provide lunch. You are welcome to come Friday night and stay over, but we will need to know who is coming so we can provide adequate food for breakfast.
