George Washington Chapter Spring Trace
2012 Summary
This years Spring Trace was not without rain, as usual, but it only rained for a couple short hours on Saturday evening around dinner time. However, it came no where close to the "Mud and Flood Trace" we had at last years Srping Trace. The rain didn't; however, damper the spirits of those that attended, but it did cause us to exercise caution as the Saturday evening council fire service was held under the large pavilion. Pastor Tom Lasure from Bethel Temple Church in Bridgeport, WV, was our guest speaker and did a superb job ministering to those in attendance. You never knew what was coming out of his chinese bag and he has become known as the Krispy Kreme King.
There were 43 in attendance and 20 shelters. Apparently the threat of rain kept a lot of FCFers home as this was our lowest attended Trace in the history of the GW Chapter. We had a gorgeous day; however, on Saturday for all of the competitions, which included hawk and knife throw, black powder shoot, flint and steel, and tall tale story telling.
At our traditional Saturday afternoon auction we raised over $450 for missions and a lot of people walked away with a lot of nice stuff. There were no candidates for this years Chapter Scout election so Philip Sproull has been asked to stay on for one more year. Next Spring a new Scout will be elected and will be able to compete for Territorial and National Scout at the 2013 Territorial Rendezvous. Our BGMC Offering at the Trace for the CD Translation Project was $158.43. Thank you for supporting this project, which will be instrumental in getting curriculum to many countries around the world.
There was no Frontier Adventure at this years Spring Trace for new members. New FCF members desiring to join the FCF will be called out at the District Powwow and the Adventure will take place at Powwow. The $50 cost to join includes the Powwow registration fee and also the registration fee for the Fall Trace, what a great deal. Be sure to get your FCF New Member Application and fee sent in to Mike "Moon Shadow" Schechterly ASAP.
See you at the Fall Trace!
