As I am sure you may have heard by now, I am stepping down as District Director. A notice has been sent out to the District staff and Sectional Coordinators by the District Superintendent a couple weeks ago. This is my 14th year as District Director and it has been my pleasure to serve with you during that time and, with your teamwork, take the District to new levels and develop new ways to serve our outposts and expand the ministry throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware. It certainly has not been without its challenges, but it has been rewarding and fulfilling. I will not be getting out of Royal Rangers, but will serve where needed and where God leads me to serve and at the pleasure of the new District Director, whomever that may be. In the meantime, I have been asked to continue as District Director until a replacement is found. That process has already started and your involvement is requested and key in finding the person God wants to lead the district going forward. Please continue reading below as to how you can be involved.
On Friday night, March 29th, at Bethel Assembly of God – Carlisle, PA, a Camp Council Board meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. All Camp Council board members are requested to attend. At 7:00 p.m., the District Superintendent will be meeting with the District Executive Staff, District Staff, and Sectional Coordinators/Commanders to discuss finding my replacement and to begin the process. He has requested that all our staff be present. I know that this means coming earlier to the DLC than you are normally accustomed, but this is an important meeting that will steer the future of our District. You are welcome to stay at the church as there is plenty of room and there are showers as well. There are also some reasonable motels nearby. Please make every effort to attend this very important meeting.
Following the meeting with the District Superintendent, estimated to end at 8:30 p.m., Steve Steffel, our Events Coordinator, will be conducting a planning meeting for the 2019 District Powwow. If you are a part of the planning committee, or have been a part of the Powwow planning and implementation in the past, or if you desire to be involved, please plan on attending this very important meeting. We always welcome new individuals to provide input and we want to make this a spectacular Powwow. Light snacks will be available for all who attend. Again, space is available for those that want to stay overnight at the church.
On Saturday, March 30th, the Spring District Leaders Conference will be held starting at 8:30 a.m. and run until approximately 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided for breakfast and a lunch will be provided at the church by the District. It is important that all district staff and sectional staff be present. Outpost Coordinators are strongly recommended to attend and Outpost Group Leaders are also invited and encouraged to attend. We will be bringing you the latest news and updates from our recent National LEAD Conference in Dayton, OH, as well as cover other brief district business. It’s hard to believe, but the 2020 National Camporama is just a little over 16 months away and we will be making plans and discussing the upcoming Camporama. Time will also be allotted for all district staff members to give a brief report of their area of responsibility and updates on current issues or events. We also request that each Sectional Coordinator/Commander be prepared to give a brief summary of 2018 and some highlights of their year and goals for this year, Numerous other items will be covered as well, including National updates, the upcoming Spring FCF Trace, the District Powwow, Territorial Rendezvous, as well as other upcoming events and new items, etc. Breakaways will also take place for the Divisional Fall Camporee planning, if necessary.
Commanders, this meeting is not just for district and sectional staff. All Outpost Coordinators, Group Leaders, Junior Leaders, and young men and boys desiring to make a difference in this ministry are invited and encouraged to attend. Please get the word out and make plans to attend this meeting. The direction for our district, the way the district operates, and what it can do for you and your outpost is determined by your involvement and much needed input. Make it a point to attend this important meeting. If you have something that you want to include on the agenda for discussion please let me know March 27th. The dress for the meetings will be either Utility uniform, Specialty uniform, or casual (formerly Class ‘C’ staff shirts).
